Is this your family or someone you know?

Your child is bright and capable, but school is now extremely difficult or not possible.
Mornings are shaped by anxiety, refusal or shutting down.
Meltdowns or emotional overwhelm are happening more often.
You are constantly anticipating the next crisis.
Advice from school or professionals hasn’t made things easier.
You are carrying most of the responsibility for trying to hold things together.
If this feels familiar, you are in the right place.

You do not have to manage this alone.

Why families come to us?

Most families arrive after trying several different approaches that haven’t created lasting change. They’re not short of advice. What’s missing is a clear explanation that makes sense of what they are seeing. Our role is to make complex situations understandable, so families can make better decisions and stop reacting in crisis mode.

Areas we commonly support

School refusal

Severe anxiety

Emotional regulation difficulties

Meltdowns and shutdowns

Demand avoidance profiles, including PDA Autism and ADHD (AuDHD)

Transition to secondary school

Transition to college or university

Parent and family support

With more than 20 years of experience supporting autistic and neurodivergent children, young people and families, we specialise in situations where previous approaches haven’t led to meaningful progress.

Behaviour is communication. When we understand what is driving it, we can respond in ways that reduce distress rather than escalate it.

Our approach is structured, practical and tailored to each family.

I'm Helen Spence, founder of Miracle Minds.

I have over 18 years' experience supporting children, young people and families, with a background in mental health and learning disabilities. My passion is helping neurodivergent children and young people feel understood, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to thrive.

I provide a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental space where children can explore their thoughts and emotions in ways that feel comfortable to them. Every child is unique, so I tailor my approach to their individual strengths, interests and needs, using creative and evidence-informed approaches such as play, sand tray therapy, emotional regulation strategies, coaching and talking therapy.

I also work alongside parents, schools and professionals, recognising that the best outcomes happen when everyone works together to support a child. Whether a family is seeking support before a diagnosis, during assessment, or following a diagnosis of autism or ADHD, my aim is to provide practical strategies, compassionate guidance and hope.

At Miracle Minds, I believe every child deserves to feel accepted, valued and empowered to reach their potential.
